Both poems contain some intriguing concepts.  I love the concept of a person being like a tree, well rooted and stable and I also like the image of the "blackboard of time" which gives the sense that there is no destiny and fate, but it is written as we write it, making our lives, our own responsibility.

Merkie...so well done!

I thought your poem so well told the story - the universal truth - of the state of being of a Happy Man, in s many ways. It was really excellent.

It reminded me of Psalm 1:

Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
       Whatever he does prospers.

Not so the wicked!
       They are like chaff
       that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Excellent! A happy person is indeed like a tree, happy at providing shade, providing fruit, firmly grounded in the root, never asking anything in return

Wonderful Merkie..no wonder I feel so content out in nature amongst the trees. "Blackboard" stirred me, communication has always been a great key throughout time..... that unlocks many a closed door.

You are exactly right about the comparison of a happy person with a tree.
I wonder if being happy makes the person staid like a tree, or if being staid like a tree is what makes a person happy.

I love the analogy of humans to trees and if I were a tree I’d like to think of myself as a cherry tree (probably because of their beautiful spring blossoms).
