I personally feel that the child is the responsibility of the parent. ., NOT the government.  There are some religions that have this real weird take on medical attention. ., and even though I personally don't agree with them and think they are stupid, I don't feel it is my place to dictate something so personal as spirituality.

I was not excusing her for believing that religion was a reason. Death of a child is death. There has been enough scientific information including medical duccumentaries proving babies are alive in the utures able to live outside too if left alone. I am saying if a woman has the choice to have an abortion she should have control of the medical treatment of her child.

I don't agree with her decision but I agree with her right to make it. She has asked for alternative healing. My friend just went through alternative treatment and was healed with the blessings of her doctors because they did not believe she would survive. She has and is doing very well. This woman has this right.

I do appreciate your comment; I don't know what her religion but I don't buy your opinion that all religion is pathalogical. I do appreciate your speaking your opinion. May you never have to make a decision where you have been denied surgury for cancer and been told that treatment would only weaken you for the inevitable withot knowng the God of the Jews and the Christians.

If the parents had chosen abortion
there would not have been the scene they are facing now.  But the end result may be the same...to lose the child.  How sad.  And you are so right, in the eyes of the authorities, one method is OK, the other is not.  How can they be so sure...

It is odd to me that they raise a ruckous over separation....
of church and state, but the state has no problem meddling in the affairs of families. This world is like a straight pin--pointing one way and heading another.  On one hand, I feel that medical treatment should be administered, on the other hand, I think the parents wishes must be taken into consideration.  Chemo is a deadly chemical destroying not only the bad cells but the good ones as well.  Maybe it is the Mom who doesn't fully understand how the medicine works and maybe she doesn't know that the treatment will increase the boy's chance of survival.  Final anaylsis: 6 of one half of dozen of the other.  :)

I agree totally with you. I think the boy should have conventional treatment since the odds are so good. I believe his mother should comply. But I still think she is no more a criminal than if she had aborted the boy. Despite the fact it is the wrong thing to do she feels in her heart that it is the right thing, she gave birth to him and he belongs to the parents not the state.

Justi....I am torn on this......
Abortions aside........what a horrible thing for the boy to die when he doesn't have to........he is not of an age to be able to make such decisions....but I despise a court telling parents how to raid their kids.....help me out here!

I agree with that about the media. I cannot imagine about the woman, don't know just think she has a right to her son's treatment.

Its probably Christian Science, the media loves to raise their ratings.  I can comment on that, but the rest no comment
