Your right in the natural history parts BC-A but these conditions were lacking the vast increase in population. The redistribution of water in it's natural flow or the private ownership of water. And Water is our most valuable resource, rising even above oil.
You should read The two Major Water Ciompanies destroying the World's Water System and Suez-Ondeo/United Water. They are towards the end of the section polotical, health, envoirnmental, World Affairs.

There's a whole lot of good in this country ...
Certainly there are areas with a natural history of drought, dryness, and water conditions the deserts notwithstanding love. Science needs to be applied to studies of conservation increasingly without loosing faith in the mood of the great frontier that led to this country. BCA, Bill*s Roost
