ciel,
Thanks for that link.  I will look into it.  Entomology has always been an interesting subject to me, but I lost a certain amount of interest in it when I discovered ''jejenes'' in San Blas that could fly right through a mosquito net and practically eat me alive.  As much as I love that town, I will never go back there unless it is the dead of winter.  The last time I was there they were burning stinkpots to keep away the bugs at the hotel.  The bugs were unaffected, but the stinkpots gave me a sinus infection that lasted more than a month.  The sinus problem, however, did not outlast the bugbites.  They lasted for about two months.

Re: ciel

That is quite interesting.  If you spot any, email me a closeup of one.  I don't think I ever flipped a pie that was old enough.  Most of the ones that I flipped had less interesting creatures at the bottom--those of a variety to which I cannot refer without using ''the dreaded M word.''  I think they are more euphemistically referenced as fly larvae.

Someone who studied them for a living?  A Professional Pie Flipper?  A career path of which I was totally unaware.  Alas!  During my college days I had such poor guidance counselors.

Re: cowpies
In fact, if you turn over a cowpie--a nice old one--you might find a solpugid living there. It's a little arthropod, an arachnid that is not, in fact a spider.  I once met someone who studied them for a living.

Re: 9star,
Blogs are like cow pies (sometimes referred to as Meadow Muffins).  If you don't turn them once in a while, some innocent person will come along and step in one while it looks dry but is not.  I don't think I need to explain to you how unpleasant that can be, both for the victim and the incautious Muffin Manager.

Re: sinome,

I had a really nice boat once.  When it was new it was the Cadillac of all boats.  All wood, a big engine up front.  It was a real dreamboat.  But it wouldn't float. The wood had dried out and it was like riding in a colander.  I couldn't bail water fast enough to go anywhere.  Finally my dad traded it to some guy for a nickel plated Colt .41 that wouldn't shoot.

The next one floated, but about 100 yards up the lake the engine blew.  In addition to that, the guy who sold it to me took out the good battery when I went to get cash, and put in an old one that didn't work.  Then the guy who I sold it to sold it to some cranky woman who came back to scream at me because the trailer title got lost before she bought it.  The guy I sold it to, who sold it to her, told me he was going to get it taken care of, but he never did.

Don't ever mention boats to me.  If anyone ever tries to sell me one I am going to chase him off with a baseball bat.

Re: seriously,
You have to flip them around once in a while, or nobody notices they are there.  You can flip them over easy, over medium, or over hard.  I prefer over medium myself.  Over easy can get too messy, and over hard bangs them up too much.  Sometimes, however, they need a good slamming around.

  • I have only been in here for five or six days now but That is one of the first things that I have noticed, most people click on the first page and go no further, even though my best stuff to date is some of the first stuff that I posted.
  • gotta keep it fresh I say.  either that or leave the same old story up for 2 weeks straight.  lol

sam,
Thank you.  You have refreshed my view of freshening up blogs.  I am really happy to hear that someone else shares my views.  I think my next important task is to make an effort to get Blogit to freshen up their views of how comments are handled.  I enjoy nothing more than being a thorn in the side of those who sit on their fannies and wait for a paycheck.
