Yes
I know there will come a time that he doesn't want to spend time with me and that happens occasionally now. He'd rather play with his friends, and HEY, sometimes I want to go and play with my friends in the writing group without him, so that's ok. It's healthy and other social interaction is the done thing. It makes for a well rounded personality. why shouldn't he have friends that are his age to hang out with and I have some that have similar interests to mine, reading and writing and doing stuff like walking or movie going which he does with me anyway.

Having four little boys so close together in age, I was so ready for them to all be in school when the last one was old enough.  And, I think I had it easier than you because they entertained each other.  We had a large fenced yard and they loved the outdoors.  I think it is harder to take care of just one.  That's when they expect a lot more attention from mom.

Poor little guy... I know they can be a handfull but hey... Some of my fondest memories are of my grandmother and grandfather spending time with me when I got the chicken pox... they played games and read me books in French, eventhough I understood very little, but I did not mind... I loved the attention and the time to be with them :-) so enjoy him... they grow way too fast and there will come a day that HE does not want to spend time with you ... I hope you have a great time together and he gets well soon
