Re: A mathematical thought on the matter...
Thanks for your input and discussion here!
I believe it would add considerably to the liveability of this world if people got it generally that it is all right to let someone be wrong. The violence in the narrative of dogma is in the insistance that everyone agree to the same Truth.
There are some that regard that wholesale global acceptance of their Truth is better than peace or happiness or joy... or the transcendant Love they actually are fighting for--and can never find, this way.

A mathematical thought on the matter...
Think about this....
Mathematically, the number one can be divided infinitely, resulting in a fraction infinitely small but NEVER truly reaching zero. So the idea is that the world of "existence" (that which is countable) and, shall we say, "non-existence" (or the opposite of that which is countable), can never actually touch or meet. Yet, NOTHING in the countable existence can truly work without the presence of the un-countable (thus the importance of the zero is mathematics). That which resides in the countable universe or dimension must "take on faith" the concept of the zero, but in no way can actually experience it. But without it, nothing works.
That's how I think of absolute truth, God, the Creation and Creator. It doesn't matter what you think and what your perception of truth, or your "reality" at the moment. As long as you reside in this dimension of existence, you will NEVER be able to fully grasp "absolute Truth." I think we can come closer and closer, just like in the ever-shrinking fraction, but there is a required "leap of faith" that inevitably must be accepted ("You are God; I am not."). But nevertheless, the TRUTH is what it is, completely apart from our own making or comprehension. The zero is still the zero, even if we can't get our brains around it and can only see it from our dimension. Meanwhile, we accept it within our hearts, and it is then able to do its important work of helping us solve the daily equations of our lives or the questions of our eternal place. We invite the Truth to reside within us, and that's the closest we can get for the time being.
And yep, I'm a believer in God in the Judeo-Christian narrative. I've never met a single one who wants to go kill people who don't believe like we do. On the contrary, we have to consider whether to muster up the courage to physically defend ourselves against those who DO want to kill us just because of who we are and what we believe (read the news...who IS doing that kind of thing in the world these days?). To me, it's a tired old argument to say that God can't exist, or that no type of faith can be even close to the truth just because the evil and immaturity in people's hearts prompts them to hate and want to kill those that don't believe like them. That's not the TRUTH's problem; that's a people-problem. Now, I know that violence in the Judeo-Christian narrative is an issue for some. Looked at carefully, that discussion can be broken down into matters of defense and rooting out really vile and incorrigible human behavior. Believe me, I know that this is a touchy issue.
Bottom line for me... absolute Truth exists, and all I can do is accept that and keep looking, experiencing, observing, and letting it work in my life. If I see that my equations aren't working, then I have to adjust my math on this side of them (ha! the story of my life...readjusting, evaluating, having once-thought foundations shaken). The zero never changes.
Blessings,
Falconress

Isn't it truly sad that "absolute truth" leads to killing others in the
name of absolute truth? The highest form of truth allows others their right to a different opinion or
truth!
