Yep - hard to stop and smell the roses when we whiz by them so fast, isn't it?

haha, yes every minute, every second our attention span gets shorter - we become more impatient with life and expect things to go about faster to our liking. But the scary part is, the attention span issue is happening at a younger age! Every generation of new kids that I teach - I start to notice it more and more. Right now, my students are so tuned out to reading that they can barely read a SHORT story and understand what it means. They keep reading the same sentence over and over again because they focus their minds on their drama or their friends' drama. It's so very sad to see my students this way. It's been a pleasure and a pain teaching Othello this year to my students. A pleasure because the story is interesting and definitely catches their interest - but a pain because they readily give up reading Shakespearian language without much of an effort. It just breaks my heart because it seems to get harder for them every year.

Thanks for the great post.

loll You would catch my attention with that one loll... and then I would be so dissapointed its not true that I would never read you again loll... and you are right... our attention span is getting shorter and shorter... soon we will just leaf through books and the menues in the restaurants will have only apetizers loll You do not need a catchy start because your writings are interesting enough to capture our attention and hold it. If anything I wish they were longer... when I finish reading you I always want more :-) Be well...xoxo
