If I didn't have my wishes, I would have NOTHING
You just provedthe significance of wishing by citing the birthday candle tradition, my dear. Touche!
Even my 5 year-old son cannot stop by a fountain at the park without begging me for 1 penny (or 2, or 5, or 10, or ...
) so that he can "make a wish" before he throws it in!
OH, how I wish that my wishes would come true (re: attraction theory)! However .... I also believe that we should be careful what we wish for
(i.e., it doesn't always measure up to our standards, needs, or expectations).
