I absolutely love opera, and I adore sopranos (and I don't care if they're sometimes a bit on the heavy side, lol)...my all-time favorite? Probably Callas...

That was a very special introduction to the opera world. My introduction was being taken to amateur performances of Gilbert and Sullivan operas at the local theatre and the filmatisation of the Beggar's Opera.

What a wonderful magical place to learn about music. Back stage in all
of our parents' occupations was good for us. I hung out at the newspaper or on my dad's news *beats* with him.
We also were a fixture at the Press Club where they drank, told wild stories and entertained each other no end.
Guess I picked up some attitude while there. They did shows making fun of the news stories of each passing year and we memorized raunchy songs about mayors and corruption at the university and other things.
I love that you were backstage at the OPERA, que linda experiencia.

Hi, Vogue. My father ADORED opera. He and my Mom had a subscription to the Metropolitan Opera House in NY; and it was there, unfortunately that my Dad passed away from an asthma attack when he was 53 (26 years ago). But he was doing something he LOVED and I always here my Dad saying, "I don't know how someone could not love opera. It is an EVENT" Mal
