Benzinha, you said it.
But, you know, the world needs better designed T shirts too!

majroj, I agree. I have read some young artists this week online complaining about the absolute sorrow in choosing regular work over art work, the exhaustion upon returning home from regular work and the inablility to do artwork at the end of that day. Some can pull it off and some cannot.

Some have to risk everthing and just chase the art. I have to add that I always insist that they add a practical wing to their endeavors, something that they might consider a "sell-out" to pay the rent. Better to be a sellout with tshirt designs for four hours a day, than to sell cars and never design anything.

But, then the creative juices are running and their more 'serious' work can be done, too, in a house where the rent has been paid.

Re:
calia14, great. When I read it, I knew that it needed to be spread around more amongst the doubting writers in the crowd.

Robert Heinlein said:
if you are a writer you must write. Whether you sell or not, whether you write well or not, every day you must write. He went on to describe ways to make this work productive, but if you didn't write, you were not a writer...ditto other arts or professions.

Wow!  Amazing statement!  Thanks so much for that, that's something every person should hear!  I'm printing it!
