Hiya, Joe!
That's it. It's kind of about taking something close to heinous and making it work. And if your dad was like my dad, it was sort of a holy war between refrigerator and the next trip to the commissary.

You brought back memories of my dad cooking.
When i was a kid, my dad would get home before my mom. ., and he would throw some junk into a big pot. ., put it in the stove. ., and dinner was made. he would call it Tamale Surprise. No crockpot. . , but same idea nonetheless.

Strat
This is marvellously inspirational - for, like you, I sometimes rot things in the fridge, and similarly, I tend to shy away from the Kobe-style kind of steak (my penny-pinching cleverly disguised as health concern) - so, by God, this recipe is a God-sent...

By God Soup, sounds kind of like Hobo Stew...
a little bit of whatever ya got, cooked for a long time. Around here, in the summer, people have Hobo Stew parties. Everyone brings something to throw in. Then it's cooked in a big cast iron pot, over a fire... yum. Of course, it's BYOB, as well. And everyone parties hard, so by the time the stew is done it could taste like shit, and everyone is too hungry and drunk to care... lmao.
