I think eventually they may just phase out. It is much more efficient to be able to take the phone with you, whether at home or at work. My hubby uses a cell as his business phone as well, he has a landscaping service and it makes much more sense to be able to answer calls while he is on the road.

I still have one, mainly for my desktop, and also in case my cell peters out, as it sometimes does.

Landlines are going out of fashion here as well. If you don't phone very much it's cheaper with a cell phone. Skype is useful and free for calls between skype users.

I agree and believe landlines will be useful for quite a while longer. It's more affordable isn't it?

well I was employed by one of the biggest landline providers for over 11 years and now they are depending on other services as the people cut back on landlines, but I dont think I would ever do away with one completely and long as we have elderly people I dont think they ever disappear. Think about its not so easy to get 911, what happens if you lose your connection to the cell, there are so many things to think about. I have a cell phone also through the same company but I hardlely ever use it. But then again I hardly use the landline either

I haven't had a land-line in ten years! I think it will go by the wayside eventually in the home! I am in Houston but i will catch up on your posts when I get home next week! sam

Most of the people I now under the age of 60 only have cell phones
All of my Mom's friends and a few of my friends still have landlines.
