Recognizing yourself as spirit, not just an animal in pants...
That's the first step to owning the marvelous thing that we are, human beings... beings that are human... However you define your relationship with that which your heart tells you is greater than yourself, saying hello to it, or It, is the important thing, not which filters you perceive it through.
That's my two cents on the topic!
"Those of us who have been human know full well the courage it takes."

It is pretty amazing to watch somebody overcome a challenge like
alcoholism. Almost every one of them that I know has inherits some type of spirituality. Actually, every one that seems to be beating the disease claims a close (and renewed) relationship with Christ.

My brother was a slave to alcohol since he was very young. He also used drugs. Now he has been free for about 10 years I think. I prayed for him for many years with many tears as he was destroying his life.He is very happy and knows that he can't have even 1 drink. I believe he was able to quit for many reasons. He had a lot of support from a daughter and God helped him. I am very thankful and happy to have my brother back again, happy he is my friend. If you want to quit I know by God's grace and help you can.

Certainly someone can change by going on the wagon, cutting down on their consumption of alcoholic beverages, drugs, changing careers, and feeling grief over a loss. Finally let go and let God mate. BCA, Bill*s RJJST

Transformation IS possible and yes, isn’t it wonderful that we live in a time when seeking help for alcoholism is not only possible but is no longer considered a human stain. Seeking help is celebrated – I know because I celebrate my daughter each and every day’ a young woman who has achieved 18 months of sobriety and has turned her life around. Excellent post.
