Other brands

Yes, there's the Sony Reader, and you can also read eBooks on the iPod, the Blackberry (but these are small backlit phone deices). Sony's Reader uses the same eInk techniology a the Kindle, only there's no wifi downloading. You need to connect to your computer. All my books (11 titles) are available for the Sony reader also.

The Kindle is not for sale in Denmark; surely there must be other brands that are internationally available.

It sounds like a wonderful invention, especially if it helps the partially sighted. I intend to check it out. Thanks for the information.

Re: Isn't Kindle expensive? Last I checked it was too much for my wallet.

Expensive depends on whether your an avid reader or not. If your an avid reader, twice the price is cheap. If your just a casual reader then I suppose the investment wouldn;t make the cut. Yo need to determine where your reading life is and was and where you want it to be, and everyone's wallet belongs to each person. Thousands of readers are maing the decision ow, and since I'm on the author side of things as well, I can see the surge in readers on the kindle in my own sales figures. I've owned a Kindle since day 1 in 2007 and have a point of comparison. lick the link to Kindleboards. You'll be surprised. Will the Kindle supplant the printed book. I don't think so. I just bought at book yesterday for $180.00 sans shipping. However, the impact will be on those who truly love the written word and want those words by the megapound and available in a small contraption that can be brought anywhere. It could very well change people's lives to the detriment of other things. People who scarcely read may now lt the dishes set and the work fall behind, all for the wnt of Dickens.
