Re: Xeno-x - I do not know a great deal about the Mormons
I know -- I ws just pointing out that the Book of Mormon is considered by the Mormons to as sacred a text as the KJV is to other Christians.  And of quite spurious origins (I got the whole story from some 21-yr old Mormon "elders" (plus the Book of Mormon, supposedly translated in the 1800's, but reading like King James English).

mariss9 - I agree but would argue that not one person on this planet

" . . .sincerely walk(s) the straight and narrow path the Bible really teaches"

I cannot think of any person or group alive that is not ignoring a number of prohibitions or prescribed actions for social transgression (such as stoning people to death) as described in the bible.

Xeno-x - I do not know a great deal about the Mormons
Specifically, if some of their religious doctrines have been selectively abandoned over the years as those of other religions have. I include them in "isolated enclaves" mentioned in this post, where I was admittedly thinking more of the Mennonites, Dukabors or Amish etc.

Mankind has always imposed their will over God's any time it was really convenient to them. Very few will sincerely walk the straight and narrow path the Bible really teaches.

Rational perspective...at the end of the day,
one's own conscience is the guiding light!

the great religious tomes are of human manufacture
with a dose of illumination sprinkled here and there, possibly inspired.

did you forget to mention the Book of Mormon?  That is a separate tome.
