Such a terrible position to be in. I do feel that trying to write your way out of it is the best course of action to take.

I have always been writing, but usually I am the only one who reads it. As for your writing, I enjoy hearing about "The Keys" as I have never been there and maybe never will be able to. My 18 year old son wants to go there someday. When you write about life there, I can picture it and imagine what it's like.

Sometimes words fall into poetry better than into prose...
sometimes words want to be a letter, rather than a story or an article... The keeping-on-writing can be any flow of words. And when it has been stuck a while, then just anything flows a while, and suddenly playing with words is fun again!
