I surely do dislike that word "impossible". It makes persons give up before they even try.

Naut , I have to admit I have not yet read all preceding entries
of this series yet, but as to "what can we do", I feel that we must recognize that our country (USA) is a Christian Country. Our whole legal system is based upon Christian beliefs and laws, NOT Islaamic laws. And, we must stand firm on what OUR Christian-based laws and morality and NOT be tolerant of those that contradict them.

"What?" is an easier question to answer than "How?"
It isn't as if Western cultures have no experience altering or attempting to alter the beliefs and practices of other cultures. But part of our general reluctance to do it now may well be due to some of the deeply-held shame for what our own predecessors did to cultures they thought needed to be altered or eliminated, for the well-being and security of the dominant society, and the present-day belief that we must be better than they were, wiser and more compassionate, and more effective at the same time.
If the 'what' is to 'change the fundamentals of Islamic belief' then the question of 'how' rears its head.
What does the 'how' have to look like, to be acceptible to the civil world, and also to the Islamists--because the only effective change that will not carry in it the seeds of generations more resistance and tumult, is change that is agreed to willingly, change that is chosen.
I have a few thoughts to cogitate on, regarding effective, meaingful and real change, which will hopefully coalesce into a post one day soon.
