Most women don't like to be asked out...
...by someone they haven't met yet.
Try small talk if you get another opportunity, to let her get to know you better and build a little trust.
Women today are very paranoid of relative strangers...and not without reason.
Good luck to you, FSI. As the other comments suggest, you are a fine young man, and you'll eventually "get the girl."
