Re: Postum
I might have to try this, Mariposa... I have tried Pero and it is far from an adequate replacement!

Postum
I used to drink Postum. Now I drink coffee, tea or Pero. I have made my own grain beverage drink, but it does not dissolve. (It's been awhile). If you want to try it, you "roast" wheat or barely until it is the color of coffee, then you put it in a cup of hot water and after 5 minutes or so you strain it. I can't remember the exact recipe, but it's not too bad. Some people roast garbanzo beans too.

I've heard of Postum, but never tried it, and won't mind to go without, lol. There's been talk of Ovaltine here as well - Mom used to dispense that stuff to us when were kids, but I'm glad I discovered scotch...

I googled Postum a few days ago...
...and from what I read, there's still a demand for it. Hopefully, those knuckleheads at Kraft will wise up.

Postum
Ciel,
Haven't ever tried Postum, but if it is ANYTHING close to Ovaltine, I don't wanna try it! Ovaltine tastes like a combination of what I imagine Granpa's spit cup and cigarrette butts boiled down to a syrup would be like! Why anyone would pay American money for Ovaltine, ON PURPOSE, is beyond me!
