I remember
this kind of Easter service from when I was a child; sad about the fall-off but good to see that the Church is still trying!

Each passing generation mourns the passing of some of its memory,
history, traditions and rituals, things that the young just don't take up nor care to continue.
Let's visualize the thousands and thousands and thousands of years of *dropped* knowledge and be depressed. There, now I feel better. Otherwise, I would have to go out into the streets and shout at passersby about what is being lost daily, internationally in this world that I love. Someone would either put me away or tell me to be quiet. Sigh............
One can only keep teaching some things and hoping that some ears actually grab warm bright tidbits and hold them close for a time, maybe to re-ignite as living thoughts later in life.

There have always been "rumors" that The Last Supper was actually a Passover seder, what with wine, and matza (which has been compared to the communion wafer). Several years ago, I read analysis that disputed that, but it would make sense with the timing and all. We generally have at least a few non-Jews at our seders - it's such a great tradition. Too bad it's not being continued in your rectory. Mal

I believe in God and have faith in his timing. I have had to learn this in
my life as no other lesson. It is a cycle. One day the Churches will be full again. Maybe the service will differ but the essence the Christ will be there. I feel for you though as you plod on through these years of spiritual drought.

I think it is all so interesting and powerful. We will be having a seder meal on April 10th. I am looking forward to that.

I myself got confirmed seven years ago at Easter. For whatever reason my step-cousin was in May.

Rocking
I guess this dispels the trickle down theory – that parents are teaching their children their beliefs and the significance of various religious traditions, ceremonies, or even the basis of the belief itself.
