that is really strange to me and i wonder always for that mainly at work ...may be some people do not observe that you greet them ...may be you can apply it on blogit too when you comment to some one and he doesn't respond to you so i face it every where but not with my neigbors ..

There are a lot of different reactions to neighborliness here in this place--some friendly and conversive while others withdraw and ignore.  People seem to fear getting too involved.  This complex has pool parties and potluck picnics in nice weather to help people get to know each other.  Some people would not dream of going to one and have no interest in being neighborly.

You know LustorLove, I think you might be on to something. When I lived in(15yrs) California, I found quite a few people were stuck up or on themselves. Maybe it is the state. Have a great evening. My son's in Anaheim, California right now, their band is performing in a rock festival at 7pm tonight.

My neighborhood's a mixed bag. Some are stuck up. Some are outgoing. Something's in the water where you're at, I'm afraid.

I think there's a little of everything, friendly/quiet/noisey/stuck up  people in every neighborhood. So hey, LustorLove just keep say'n Hi and smile.

I live in the country...
But I still don't know all my neighbors. Two or three I know fairly well.  I don't know if people aren't friendly any more or they just don't "need" neighbors like people used to.

i live in a small village where everybody knows everybody's business, or
at least, tries to. Pretty friendly town, though, I will say.

do you remember the welcome wagon, they still have it in some sense but no one comes to the door anymore

posted by Lanetay on March 28, 2009 at 10:16 AM | link to this | reply

Very much the same in my condo in Miami. Hardly anyone returns my greeting when I step into the elevator or even meet my neigbors who live just a door or two down.I think it has a lot to do with people's insecurity. I just shrug it off.

That is sad. I am sorry the person did not receive your greeting and return it. People are afraid today since all sorts of things have happened in neighborhoods one never thought anything would go wrong. But still I agree with you that you should have had a welcoming gift and or recognigiton. It is happening less everywhere now. Be blessed.
