Hey lady :-) You are beautiful... and I know because I have seen you, and if anything I would describe you as a "looker" You are by no stretch of the imagination fat and I for one was impressed by the sweet and engaging personality you possess. You are smart, talented, independent, compasionate and caring...Like Naut says... you are more accomplished than most of us and as far as being alone... not while I and all of your other Blogit friends are here. What the hell is this? I know, I know, we all have our dark moods, I have them as well - but:
I'm old - I'm not entirely sure of your age, but to me you look like you're in your thirties...
I'm fat - What? Fat?? I've seen your picture and unless you've fobbed off your younger sister on us, you may be crazy, but not fat...
I'm ugly - Well, I consider myself a fairly experienced judge of feminine beauty (I have the emotional scars to prove it), and again, since I've seen your picture, I'd have you sail on my arm into any establishment in the nation, nay, the world, and be proud of you...
nobody loves me - Well, judging by all the responses, including mine, that claim is disproven as well...
I'm a complete failure - I wouldn't call anyone who's been a successful lawyer and who's establishing herself in a new career as a travel writer 'a complete failure'...it just doesn't compute...
If I drop dead tomorrow nobody will care - I certainly would, and so would everybody else who has commented here...
What do I have to show for my life - Well, you've got a leaky condo in Dimdim or whatever it's called, and a nice place in Miami, and on that note I shall sign off...

Hey, Vogue - yes, I've had moods like that, too, and know they will pass as they always do. You are beautiful, a terrific writer, a trooper-traveler and I can't wait to meet you in person! I think if you didn't have moments of self-doubt every so often, you wouldn't be human - so it's great to see that you're normal, like the rest of us, and not a Narcissistic goody-two-shoes!! Mal

That happens with me, too. Down and out until I read or hear of others,
then I become secretly embarrassed about my interior whimpering and whining and snap out of it. Hate the cycle, but thank the stars for places to go to find friendly communication.
Life is not a bowl of cherries, cuz if it were I would be dead from having eaten them all in the first hour.
Life is a walk down a lane that alternates between softly or heavily wooded areas and crowded urban plazas. The secret is to keep moving, as the next place or sight will be very different and maybe even better.

Dear Vogue, sorry to hear that you are down-hearted. I hope that this will pass off as suddenly as it came. Next Friday evening I'll be in Turkey too and because of your wonderful posts I know a little bit more about what's waiting for me.

we all get in that kind of mood, and when I do that my daughter tells me look at your life you have a nice house and a good job, but I dont have that anymore, but my life is good. Look at your life, a world travelier very obvious smart and lovely, so put on your happy face
