If you are addicted to alcohol, it is considered a sickness.

Re: If cigarettes are such the public health hazard they say it is...
They actually feel that those of us that smoke are beyond help. They say the taxes are to educate teens about the evils of smoking.

It makes no sense to tax the heck out of an addiction! Quite a paradox! sam

If cigarettes are such the public health hazard they say it is...
...then why don't they just outlaw the manufacture and sale of them?
They're taxing them out of existence anyway!
It has become big business to use public health as an excuse to increase revenue through raising the taxes on those few pleasures that the common folk can afford, like cigarettes and booze.
If they outlaw what they say is such a health menace, they won't be able to tax it, and they tax it, because they say it's a health menace, which begs the question...is it the responsibilty of the government to profit from public health hazards or to outlaw their manufacture to protect the public?
I would think protecting the public would be a higher priority, but, instead they profit, while the common folk pay.

LOL! I always knew I made the right decision when I quit smoking, a long time ago actually...But I'm already paying enough taxes on my booze - any more, and you'll see me starting a revolt...
