Talion_ - I would never attempt to counter the decision not to have

children, as I feel it is an inalienable personal choice.

One that only the individuals involved can fully satisfy but . . . . I always feel that society in general loses when intelligent people decide not to have children. Like someone has to attempt to keep up the gene pool balance against the throngs of not so intelligent people that give no thought at all to having many children. The numbers eventually don't work out for society in general. The only other option is to make it mandantory to pass an intelligence test before conceiving. We need a license to own a dog for Pete's sake but taking on the responsibility of having children has no qualifiers.

not everyone is meant to be a parent, and with the cost of everything its too expensive.

I don't believe anyone should have a child unless they really, really
want one. I used to say I wouldn't take a million dollars for any of my kids, but I wouldn't give a nickel for another one.

Fine post! I think it is great to have kids and I think it is great to not have them as well! My sister never had kids and has had a wonderful life! I would have had a wonderful life if she would have taken mine! LOL I wouldn't trade them for anything! sam

Best line ever in a silly movie

"---- Heck , you even need a licence to catch a fish! But anyone can have a child."

You've obviously thought about it a lot and if parenthood comes your way-- you'll be great!

Thanks for your comment re weight watchers + t.o.p.s.

When your wife feels like it, she'll likely do it again.

I remember when my wife was pregnant, we were at the amusement park with one of her friends who happened to have two little monsters. As the hellions that spawn from her loins raced around and screamed, she looked at me and said, "see what you have to look forward to?"  I smiled back at her and replied, "my kids will never act like that"

We were fortunate enough that wife did not have to work so day care and such was never a worry. I would not trade my experience for anything in the world.

It is a shame that you will not know fatherhood and your queen will not know what it is like to be a mother,  based upon what I know of you, you would both make such wonderful parents.

Find the right person and surprisingly it becomes an option. If it happens, it's great. If it doesn't, well, that's great too.

The chance to have kids has definitely passed us by, I'm afraid. Nature does that for some reason. My kids wouldn't be the ones screaming in the restaurant. I know this because I'd raise my kids the way I was raised and I didn't act like that. Queen V didn't either.

I know what you mean. They get lost in the ga-ga-goo-goo of a baby without realizing it's not really like that.

Those are the reasons I don't want kids.

I wonder how many people...
...would honestly say that if they had to do it over again they wouldn't or would have children.  And maybe your time to take the plunge hasnt' come up yet but you know if those screaming kids in the restaurant were yours, you'd love them anyway!  We're strange creatures like that!

I find...
the people who are the most hesitant to have kids make the best parents. Too many people don't know what they're giving up to raise a child properly.
