It is absolutely your business and she was treading on sacred ground in my humble opinion! sam

I can remember very well when "feminist" was a bad word.
It meant man-hater, emasculator, bitch and worse -- the worse hinting at dirty same-sex attractions.  One of the guys at work asked me one day if I wanted to be the same as a man. It was a well-intended question and he was a bit scared to ask it. I said hell no, I had no intention of stepping down. We all laughed, and that was the end of the discussion.

And we have a multitude of words to call them instead.

I can't say I blame you for being glad that you did not want the house. I wouldn't want the real estate agent to get a dime either.

Pea-brained can be forgiven, but there's no excuse for rude.

I agree. It wasn't her business and it cost her business as well. Oops! I guess I didn't make it clear this happened a while ago. We eventually bought a three-bedroom, two bath home almost four years ago.

At one point Queen V considered the hyphenated thing, her name-my name, but I convinced her not to. There's nothing wrong with either of our names independently, but together it sounded like some German pork dish served with a side of sauerkraut.

Not long ago a woman from the human resources department at work discretely told me I can't carry a "significant other" on my insurance, only a spouse. Since my records indicate I'm married with no children, and the female's name was different than mine, she thought Queen V was my mistress instead of my wife. Now that's silly.

Point taken and word use changed. Thanks.

well us older woman aren't always accepting of the wife not taking the last name of the hubby, but that shouldn't of been the realtor's business.  Too bad my realtor isn't closer she is older but she is a very good realtor

I'm glad you guys didn't take the house...
...I hate the thought of ignoramuses benefitting in any way, especially from people who are far more evolved, as you and your wife obviously are.
That woman is still in Darwin's waiting room!
As an aside, my ex-second wife didn't change her name, either, and I was perfectly fine with it.

How narrow-minded of her Talion...
...I didn't change my last name either...the second time around that is.  I also didn't give it too much thought...just liked my last name and wanted to keep it this time.  Like you, Steve didn't care either and he's often been called by my last name.  It has been a hassle a few times and once a woman in our neighbourhood claimed, "Don't call her Mrs. B...she doesn't like that!"  I had no idea where that came from and didn't have to feign surprise.  Obviously it's still seen as a negative by some people. Just so silly!

Have to point out...
... that being the "generally weaker in a physical way" sex comes with the advantage of having a much higher pain threshold. Sex is biology, gender is a construct. It took me far too long to type two sentences.
