I would never get a tatoo for those reasons. Things change.

I would want to know the symbolism of his tattoos...
...but I wouldn't ask either. My daughter got a tiny tattoo of two stars on her lower leg while she was in college. When I discovered it she pleaded...'it's a mother/daughter star'. I think that was her reasoning behind it but she now wishes she didn't have it and it's not that noticeable but wearing skirts at work bothers her. I for one just wouldn't want to endure any unnecessary pain! Ouch!

Talion I agree with you.
I hate tattoos. A friend in Israel who I used to teach with tried to talk me into a small itsy bitsy ankle tattoo. I didn't have any trouble resisting the impulse. I don't care how good looking a guy is and how nice, if I spot a Tatt, any sort of Tatt, I lose interest.
Guess I am just an arch conservative as far as tatts are concerned.

Way to go, Talion! Nothing I love like a bargain...
I had a friend named Scrappy White when I was 18. Met him at the USO, where I was a volunteer hostess. Talk about sweet duty, it was my job to meet cute guys in uniform and make them feel welcome in Seattle! Scrappy was from New York, a sailor off a ship in dry dock at the Bremerton Navy Yard, so he and his mate (Joe?) were in town for several months. Scrappy had a heart tattoo on his left bicep, complete with some flowers at the bottom and a banner for his sweetheart's name. But the banner was blank. "When I meet a dame I wanna get next ta, Joe writes in her name with a ball point pen, and I tell her I got a tattoo for her." And that works? I ask him. "Pretty much. But I wouldn't try that on you, you're a bud."

Talion
I have a tattoo on my lower back (tramp stamp... har-har-har) of a crescent man in the moon, with a halo. There was and still is symbolism behind this, but the tattoo was definitely more of an impulsive freshman year of college thing. I won't say I regret it (and am thinking of getting another) but I'm glad that its on my back and I don't have to see it when I don't want to.
I will say tho, that when strangers point it out and ask what it means, I find myself having to explain but a little put-off by it. Saying, "Oh, so - I never could see the man in the moon until my dad finally was able to point it out to me. He's dead. And I feel like he's watching over me, thus the halo. Anything else you want to know?" always makes for awkward conversation. If I were to say, "Oh, I just liked it," I'd be earning the placement's nickname.

imagine I might have got a sailor in a row boat and now he'd be captain of the Queen Elizabeth.

we got the answer to our questions, now on to the tattoo guy, my son who is 41 is covered in tattoos and on weekends work for a tattoo artist, and I told him why dont you get the tattoos removed and he had seen a guy that had all his removed and you couldnt see a thing. My daughter who is 22 has a few things pierced and wants another piercing but her bf tells her no, but he wants her to get a tatto with him. I am with you I dont understand tattoos and there are a lot of women getting them

Enjoy that monitor sounds nice I thought mine was big and its 19 but I was thinking about getting a larger one
