Re:
Dearest the-loanlady, this story, your story,  brought tears to my eyes. Pit bulls do not know the term "self-preservation" and do all that they do full out, damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead. They love that way, too.

When idiots, and there are a few on my street, raise them to be scary things, I hate the owners and not the dogs. I try to grab pits as they run down my street, escaped from their gardens. I do it carefully, so as not to die, but, I trust that most are darling lost things, equal to poodles in their need to be caught and returned home safely.

Your neighbor, Peter, would be showered with love playing in front of my house. I understand Ruthy's fears, but does she understand that she may cause the death of the most decent dog in the neighborhood, or is she too fearful to even rationalize reality? Poor Ruthy.

Life is often just a show that we watch and cannot change at all. Some things we can do. I do what I can.

Thanks for your wonderful Peter story. I am putting it in my blog post today. Thanks.....

This mottled grey pit bull named Peter lives on our street. He scales or digs his way out of his family's yard. Just because he is a stocky fellow of that breed - adults cringe in fear of him. The kids in the neighborhood know him better, the guy pulls the boys on skate boards up the hill as many times as they desire. The dog goes one more time, even when the pads of his feet were raw.  Our cranky neighbor Ruthy reported him numerous times, often when the five ten year old boys employ his muscle power. In order to keep him, the family had his canine teeth- the fangs removed - to verify that it is be impossible for him to harm even a bunny. The smile he has when his tongue drops around the empty tooth holes -as if to say Ruthy you fat lady who wears a nightgown in the front yard in the afternoon, I like you too.
