Naut, I just read between the lines... knew what you meant...
and neither port nor stout actually give anyone gout.  I am sad to say, I know something about gout.

I've never seen Stilton with fruit in it - it's the blue kind I have when I have it, which isn't often. And when I looked over my previous comment here, I know why I talked of 'Stilton and cheese' (???) and then said that 'stout' gives you gout, rather than port, which was what I meant to say - I had been drinking too much stout...

Stilton and port...

I like Stilton, and sometimes get the dessert kind, with bits of fruit in it.  Is that the one you have with port?  Or the blue Stilton?

Trader Joe's is the best place I know for getting interesting cheeses at relatively low prices. Even the more exotic ones.

Port is great, and it goes extremely well with Stilton cheese! Stilton and cheese is one of the Christmas delights in this house - not at other times of the year, 'cause drinking too much stout gives you gout...

Talion, I dn't know about bourbon,
except in barbecue sauce...  Brandy, like liqueurs, is good over ice cream, too...

I'm a bourbon kind of guy so I've never been into brandy too much. Not beyond the cheap, any port in a storm, if it has a proof drink it consumption of my college days. I promised myself that one of these days I do the brandy thing right, getting the good stuff, snifters, the whole nine yards. I'll get around to it eventually.
