Personally, I think it’s seeking validation (something that within the complacency of marriage we forget to give our partner). Statistics show that the person someone has an affair with is more often than not less attractive than the person they’re with. This “other” person simply makes them feel good about themselves.

Cheating is the most obvious sign there's something wrong with the relationship. The cheater is unhappy or unfulfilled so he/she searches for whatever it is he/she thinks is missing.

men get bored easily with one woman, and if there are children involved the wife is catering to the children and not him anymore, he gets that urge and some woman tempts him and off he goes to greener pastures, but in most cases he gets weeds

I have never understood it, but yuou are very right.
It happens all the time. I would think the value of love, commitment and faithfulness, would be enough. If you are best friends with your loved one, the way you should be, then why would you want to jeopardize what you have together, or hurt that person. It boggles my mind, but I see it happening all the time. ugh
