Carnivals and County fairs are usually a big letdown, but not always!
Strat,
My memories, like yours, are mixed about the much anticipated entertainment of carnivals and fairs. My favorite learning experience at a County fair was walking past one of those food wagons. The most tantalizing and alluring aroma was eminating from the table next the one of those Roach Coaches. People were buying french fries, (long before they were Freedom Fries) and drizzlingsome mysterious brown liquid over them. French fries smell delicious, all by themselves, but combined with this liquid, they were irresistable! I had to have some of these fries, or DIE! It turns out that this mysterious liquid was malt vinegar, and for the only time in my life, the anticipation was far less than the actual realization.
Words cannot describe how marvelous those fries were! I hope that one day, I will again experience such a satisfying guess about something or someone, that turns out to be so gratifyingly correct.

No Hoochi Coochies for us either...
Way too conservative up in these parts. In fact, if an animal in the fair barn had shown the least bit of interest in furthering the existence of its species, you could tell, they put black electrical tape over its eyes! And they all had to wear black socks. My favorite ride to scare all sense out of me was the zipper.
