I came from an ozzie and Harriet type of life, but I was divorced after 20 years

Thanks for sharing. My own family split up and scattered
when I was about 8 ... so I would not know much about it. I have a son of 20 and allow him to find his own way...

My kid's dad didn't really do much of anything for them.
He saw them but he wasn't active in anything. I let them choose whatever they wanted to do, and then worked my ass off so that they could be in it. I had to work overtime to pay for all the different things they were involved in and had to run them to all their practices, too. I don't regret it at all, though.

I agree with what Sam said. Parents need to be there to support and let things fall where they are. It'll make for happier children.

I raised my kids without their dad around! In fact he hasn't seen his daughter in 11 years, she is 22! But, I supported what my kids wanted to do, what made them happy was what I sought! I think it is awful when parents live their dreams through their kids! sam
