loll  that was very cute... but I will have you know that sparrows or "golondrinas" as they call them in Spain are very romantic birds.  A famous Spanish poet, Gustavo Adolfo Bequer wrote a very sensual  poem about them...  it tells about how they would come year after year and hang their nests from his beloved balcony... and from there the birds would watch them make love...  So many times they did this that they learned their names, his and his loved one... but then sadly he ads that those that learned their names would not come back... for they knew their love had gone.  It sounds silly translated  loll... but in spanish it is sooo sweet.  Great post Naut.!

I like the little guys, and their lifestyle. They add a cheerful note.

wonderful Naut. Beautifully done and although in Australia they were once
a plague the imported horrible Minor birds have killed aff so many of our small birds including the Sparrow. And the most wonderful French singer Edith P. was called the little Sparrow.

I read it like a story: it's very nicely written and entertaining! You made me look outside the window to see if I could spot one or two. But of course I couldn't: I'd forgotten for a minute that I'm on the 17th floor of an apartment building!LOL I will have to wait until weekend to marvel at them again! And thanks again for the corrections for my web-site. It's one more thing done this morning!

I love this post.  There's so much going on in the midst of winter's cold.  The snow looks downright romantic!  Mal

Naut, the pics are beautiful. My Mother watch birds, as well.
In the Spring she has the prettiest little finches that eat from her feeder. We watch them all, including sparrows and take joy in their freedom.

Wonderful post, Nautikos.  I loved your ending.
We have them here too and I love watching them at the feeders, but not nearly as much as Pitiful does.     Good pictures!

I keep an eye on the crows, they are large enough to carry off a small pet.

They’re cute and I didn’t scare them away from my feeders for finches, chickadees, and cardinals. When you think like that the purple martins that eat insects and crows love you too. BCA, Bill*s Cae

These little guys need some recognition too and you've given it to them...beautifully I might add!
