Some places 'assemble' the soup when ordered, so you might see if they would sub something else for the tofu. This one has loads of tofu, but I like it, so no problem--however, they might be willing to sub a little more barbecued pork for a lot of tofu.

I love hot and sour soup, despite the fact the restaurants in my area put tofu in it. I usually pick it out, but add a few fried wontons and the contents of an eggroll. I use a splash or two of low sodium soy sauce to cut the spiciness. I haven't had any in a while. Queen V and I have been frequenting a sushi bar lately.

This mouth-watering tale has me thinking of a Thai restaurant I sometimes visit, and I am sorely tempted - but it's a twenty mile drive there and back, and it's getting late, so with a heavy heart I shall resist...
