womeninthegap - Re: I hope this means I am neither...
That's ultimately the point I was trying to convey in this post. There is no position that is completely invalid or completely valid. Those that feel that despite this they do in fact have the answers, can only arrive at their conclusions by ignoring a great number of realities. Paramount of these realities is that no one can possibly know for certain; our origins, our purpose, what awaits us in the afterlife (if there is one), or the definition of God. All of these things can only be arrived at by speculation.

I hope this means I am neither...
an Idiot nor an Intellect! Though I consider myself intelligent, I have recently been proven idiotic as I have been deprogramming from the brainwashing process. Reading this post makes me realize I don't want to head all the way to the opposite side and find myself in the same smug-I'm-right position railing against (instead of for) Western organized religion. There's got to be a good tenet or two in there somewhere! For now, I have too many questions and uncertainties to affect an I'm-right stance.

Xeno-x - Re: both have the problem of thinking they are right
Absolutely, if we were to broadly examine some of the more "remarkable" contributors to this category in the past, we see an obssession with proving themselves and what they believe to be right, as universal amongst them all.

both have the problem of thinking they are right
but it's the person who harbors the possibility of his/her being wrong that learns most.

sam444 - thanx for stopping in
. . . as I am sure you have witnessed, I have been accused of being both and should probably concede having taken on characteristics of both at one time or another.

elinjo - thank you
. . . and just so you know, I'm one of your phantom clicks. I tend to visit a blog a few times, actually read it and develop a sense of where the author is coming from before commenting . . but I will comment in time.
