Thanks for your observations calia14. It's not just a matter of "no school day in the way" though. My targeted point for this is strictly addressing the socialization question as a secular homeschooler, not dismissing the academic portion of homeschooling. Thanks for clearing that up
No offense intended, but I always wondered about the socialization factor of homeschooling myself. I don't really know anyone that was homeschooled, not was I, so I just picture my week-end days growing up with a little bookwork thrown in. These could not have been considered socalization, really because after the school and work week my mom and all of us would mostly just stay home and relax. I guess if there is no school day in the way, that leaves a lot more time for educational field trips, dance, etc. I can definitely see how this would be a preferable education system.
