While I am sympathetic...
I am still opposed to the death penalty. I know, I know if it were one of my loved ones I would certainly wish to see these two monsters die. Dragged through the streets by a city bus preferably. Revenge is only human. Perhaps if we brought back a death penalty such as public hangings it might give some people pause before they committed their heinious deeds, but this is generally not the case. As far as the costs are concerned, because of the appeal system (and as ridiculous as it sometimes seems) which I am glad that it is there, it has become far more expensive to get someone in the electric chair than to keep them in prison for 40 or 50 years. Besides, I would consider life imprisonment a far worse punishment.
