First it was negro, colored and then black and now African American. Is this evolution? To me it's the weakest people from any group that worry about what to be called.

You make some very good points. But Americans are from all parts of the world. What you say is not unique to Americans of African descent. The Jews here are from everywhere. They will tell you they are Polish, or Austrian or German, etc. What does it really matter? Then, of course, people of the Caribbean prefer not to be called African Americans. One day, we may just be all Americans. Then perhaps not.

They apparently refer to the continent...........
because the countries on the continent of Africa change their names so frequently, that it would be impossible to have updated Census forms.........look at all of the expenses when it comes to printing and updating......perhaps when thing calm down and we have steady name sourcing,  a switch could be considered........

Interesting!

To answer your question about who cares, I would have to say the the liberal media cares, that's who! They talk about more than anyone in the nation. Funny how the very ones who preach all of this don't call people names, every love everyone, we are all human beings, etc. are the very ones who are the first to harp on race. Amazing isn't it?

I have said in many blogs that this is our first interracial president in our history. I finally gave up trying to be accurate. I guess the black race wanted to claim him so badly that this is the result, that's okay though. What I have a beef about is the same ole thing, first black this and first black that... now our Republican party named our new director Michael Steele but what did the media harp on? That's right, the fact that he i black was the first thing we heard and many times over. If the liberal media wants to accomplish their agenda of all being one then I suggest that they close up shop and fold. When will the media get past race? I am a conservative Republican southerner and I have many Republican candidates who happen to be black or African American. It is the person which matters here. Why can't the liberal media stop contradicting themselves?
