Gorgeous poem!
This is one of my faves from you and the opening stanza just 'got me'. I can reach out and touch that car from your words! Fantastic!

Mobikes are, or rather were, another passion of mine. I once took part in dirt-track racing but failed miserably, like Jack fell down and broke his crown. Rebuka thanks you profusely for wishing her a happy birthday.  from your desert prince.

wigopa, I remeber them well, and that car pictured was one of my favs...
I had a '59 Chev Impala myself (my 1st car), that wasn't in any way "shy" when the opportunities arose....

I remember the days.....
I first had a 1957 Chevy and it ran faster than I could think.  Later I bought a 1967 Mustang, Dark Green Jade Metallic and I promised myself that I would not race it. But almost every time I was on a certain drag in Waco guys would pull up beside me ata red light and they just a look of challenge about them.  When the light turned green it was off to the races.  I tore out so many clutches that I almost went broke. My how things have changed. I set my cruise control now on 60-65mph and just glide along.   People pass me up as if I were setting still.  They even pull into a gas station before I do. ha! Thanks for the reminder!

I definitely remember a boy that bought a used 1954 Ford that had originally been a police interceptor.  It would drag like no other I've ever driven and I wouldn't let him take it above 80 when I was with him.  He loved that thing.  You give us lots of good posts, wigopa.

Well written I could almost smell the gasoline  and hear the banging of those hammers... it makes me nostalgic... here all you see is the metrosexual almost-like- me guys.  Where are the macho machos? , les hommes réels? :-)  loll... Excellent work Marion :-)
