I agree, much stranger things have happened. I don't know what is to come. I know God has it under control. Be blessed.

Hi, Justi - thanks so much for reading and commenting on my religion blog. As an Independent, I found falt with both candidates:), but I was moved not only by the dignity and emotion of the inaguration, but also by the genuine affection that seemed to be shared by the Obamas and Bush's as Laura and George said goodbye to Michelle and Barak before getting onto the helicopter. I've heard that the former president and new president are now fond of each other (stranger things have happened; look at older Bush/Clinton raising money together for tsunami relief). It was a touching scene.

Very well said. There is a lot of difference in opposing and bashing. Bashing is what I am opposed to. I will not hold someone up to some of those things I disagree with. Pro abortion is not even in my considerations and he is all for that I believe, gay marriage, gays in the military same. I won't bash him, as I did that before he was elected. I will harass my congressmen, all of them. Thank you for your well thought out comment.

There are not higher standards for the Republicans than the Democrats. There are some Republicans who have behaved in monstrous ways. As a rule we believe in doing to others what we want to have others do to us. That is not always played out that way, but it is my philosophy. I believe in voting one out of the office. I don't believe in cursing the office or that one holding it. Frankly all this Democrat and Republican stuff is an excuse for doing wrong just to get money to run again.

Well the Braves are up for years and then down for years, I never give up on them where ever they are. Oh I wish I could send you some sunshine. It is not springlike where we are but down South where we were last week it is. We are going down mid state this week-end and it will be in the high 60º and low to mid 70ºf I can handle that. I love the looks of Snow but not for long. I have been to your slopes in North Carolina beautiful.

Yes it was. There was a grace about the crowd. I don't know if anyone would be up to the load. He already has done what I didn't want --His assurance of the continuance of abortion laws. But still I will pray.

Work together?
I have no intentions on bashing Obama. However, he has set out an official agenda. You can view it at the official
White House web site. I am against his taxation plans, gay military, opposition to an ammendment to ban gay marriage and other issues not quite clear. I am with the opposition party, not republican, and have no intention of working with him on these issues. In the alternative I intend to veheminently oppose much of his agenda. I am still reading it and it may take me several days to entirely digest and evaluate his agenda. Opposing and bashing are two different things. Why would I work together with something I'm totally opposed to? To give him a chance? This is hardball. In the World Series do we give the new guy, on the opposing team, a chance to hit the ball? Of course not. Don't be rediculous!

I agree that the Republicans have indeed shown gracious civility

and I wonder why there are two sets of rules. One set for Democrats and one set for Republicans. Why are Republicans held to a set of standards that are higher than for Democrats. Why can a democrat not pay taxes and it's a mistake but what if a republican had done the same? Be that as it may, God bless America and our new President.

I appreciate you, girl from Bama! How will those Braves do this year? Hard to think this as I sit in my house here in NC with snow all over it but spring training is just around the corner!

It was indeed an impressive “passing of the baton”. Even as a Canadian I watched in awe at what seemed to be a sea of people with a renewed sense of hope. He certainly has his work cut out for him....

I agree the man has so much to deal with. Being a president is the hardest job in the world even with all the help and power one has. Every president who if fairly elected should be supported by the Nation in respect for the office if nothing else.

I believe all the prayers for him will make a difference. This country has to come together. Hopefully when those who were so angry settle down and look around they will see some of the things they should do other than complain all the time. ILU

As a lot of commentators said...
The first black president has two wars, a sagging economy, massive debt and who knows how many social issues, no pressure! For the sake of showing that success comes with hard work, I hope he is at least partly successful. We all have to remember he is after all, one man in a sea of troubles.

It was a day to be proud of Americans!
I didn't vote for Obama either, as you know, but I too will be praying for him and his family and him to be wise in his leadership. I too was so impressed with the dignity of the ceremony. Our country's leadership was so graceful and gentle in handing over the reins without bloodshed or even a look of hatred. It was awesome! It was a class act all the way.

Thank you for your encouragement. Ugliness has never won anything positive. It is a destroyer. If one can stop something with it fine. If one can't it is best to try other tactics except in violence. I am in favor of war for defense and for the wisdom to understand violence when it is staring us in the face. I appreciate your reading my work.

Great Post!
I will say this for your post, did you expect anything different from us Republicans? Maybe I should have rioted the streets, burnt down our local establishments, robbed, mugged, etc. The difference is clear and always has been between democrats/liberals and Republicans/conservatives. Obviously, they are worthless in their thought process!
Great post!

You have summed it up very well, and I, too, am proud to be a part of the Republican party. God bless you for the wisdom and encouragement you display in your posts. Thanks!
