Thank you all for the comments!
I went yesterday and choose a pair. And the girl was very helpful: I must have tried a hundred pairs!!!! Choose 4 possibles out of these and finally one. They are rather discreet, but fashionable, rectangular without being too square at the corners, with "branches" of dark brown to metallic copper shades of colours bands, but not too large. I asked other employees working there and also, yes, some clients, and they all agreed that this pair was the best for me.
As for the bifocal thingy, I asked a woman who works where I am going to, and she said that she regretted not to get her new pair bifocal like the one before, because the comfuser is a bit far and can't be move much closer. So, she need a pair to see the comfuser and another one to read. So, for a few dollars more, might as well be comfortable.
And finally, thanks naut, but I can still see even without my eyepieces!!!LOL
PS: I had no idea how expensive glasses could be!

If you can't make up your mind about the frame - get frameless ones! That's what I'm gonna do the next time. I don't wear mine constantly anyway, just for reading small print...
And I hope my large font helps you!

I only need glasses for the distance, not for reading which means I wear them all the time and take them off when reading. This being the case, my glasses are a fashion accessory and a 'trade mark' for vogue. I have about 10 pairs, all big, all originally designer sunglasses fitted with prescription lenses and all in different colors to go with outfits. I don't think you want to go that route, but as you asked how we 'glass people' choose ours, I just thought I tell you.

Yes, it is a big change
I had no idea how to choose glasses either. I did not choose bifocals - I just have reading glasses. Are you absolutely certain you need bifocals? You need to keep your computer at a position that is comfortable. That is important for posture. I saw someone wearing attractive frames and asked them where they got them. I have narrow frames - stylish - mine also have a tint in them which only comes into play when I am outside. This is because one of my great pleasures of the summer is sitting outside reading. Go to a shop where there is someone prepared to help you try as many pairs on as you need. I went to one shop where they showed me about four pairs, all very old lady, so I went to another where they were very helpful. If they are not helpful change shops.
