Re: Re: Re: When is that Allen comment from?
I think that you're right that not everyone forgot what smart was, but one of the methods that the Republicans use to gain and maintain power is to dumb themselves down and to mock intelligence in others.  I guess that's so that "regular" people will want to vote for them.  At least the Democrats tend not to play that game.

Ah, well I never meant to detract from Obama.  He does appear, and sound like a genuinely intelligent individual.  I don't think everyone forgot what 'smart' was during the course of the dubya's presidency...

Re: When is that Allen comment from?

The Woody Allen comment is from ANNIE HALL, in the scene in which he and Carol Kane are debating the validity of the Warren Commission report on the assasination of John Kennedy.

As for Obama being an improvement over Bush, one of the biggest problems with Bush was how much he lowered the country's standards, so that anyone would seem to be an improvement.  But I do think that Obama will be a genuine improvement over Bush, not just by comparison.

When is that Allen comment from?
Was just wondering if he made that before or after Soon-Yi, to make himself look like less of a child-molester....

On Obama - could there be worse than our previous, synaptic misfire?
