Re: mousehop
That is a frightening story. I'm glad you were able to get past it. But I can't help but wonder what I may have missed due to various and sundry prejudices in my early education. I have found a few.

My junior year in high school, I took an advanced placement American history course. I'm a casual history buff and I find the Civil War fascinating, second only to the revolution, the country's most trying period thus far. My teacher skipped the entire era as if it didn't exist. Needless to say, my teacher was white and every student in the class was black. Naturally, I was angry, but ultimately, I wasn't cheated out of anything. I grew up in a household with two librarians, an English teacher, and my mother taught history before moving on to the IRS. I always learned far more at home than I ever did in school anyway, including about the Civil War, so I didn't miss out. However, I can't say the same for my fellow classmates who didn't, for lack of a better term, live in a school. Still, it's the point and I'll never forgive my so-called teacher for that.
