Exactly. I can't even write when I'm in the other room, down the hall if someone has the TV on. Maybe I should get an Ipod to drown out the sound.

In truth, I wrote most of this after the show ended, and the TV was off. I may have got through the first paragraph in forty minutes with the show on.

I never write (or do anything that requires thought) while in front of the television. Whatever is happening onscreen completely dominates, casting all of those otherwise extremely important things bouncing around in my head aside. Maybe that's why they call it the boob tube.
