I hate church changes the most. Maybe you could do a new service style

at the 9 a.m. and the old style service book at the 11 a.m.???

I had memorized the services my whole childhood and could recite it all as a meditative mantra each Sunday until I left the country for awhile, learning about British Episcopal services in Rio, difficult enough, but sighing with relief walking into my old church back home, only to be freaked out by the changes.

Freaked. Language changes and then much more chanting and then fog like incense clouds, amazing changes that drove me away.

Heh heh heh, good luck and take a mop and some bandages.

I know what you mean.
It's hard to get people to change.  Sometimes I wonder if I might need to sit

by the door for easy access whenever we just have a board meeting.  That's

where prayer comes in.  We need to remember to pray for whatever steps we

are taking and God will fix whatever the problem is, but we have to keep open

minds.  May God guide your congregation in the direction you need to go.  He

has already said the path to righteousness was narrow and few go there in.

No matter what we do, His will, shall be done in the end.  My prayers are with

 you. Prayer

Received this question on our Church postcard

A stagnant or comback church???? Who wants a stagnant church???? Many churches will not make the adjustments and changes necessary to move from stagnation and decline to revitalization and growth.

Stagnant churches:  5-40 years behind the times, inactive rather than proactive, repeating history instead of making history, on the cutting edge of irrelevance.

Comeback churches:  intentional, missional, spiritual, visional

Interesting since this church has been fighting stagnation for several years and has been hanging on by a thread.  The elders of the church failed to see the relevance of a youth program and it has been a hard journey to stay alive for them.  I stay because I grew up in the church but my children won't go there very often because of how they were treated.  Changes came but almost too late.

May I share a possible solution to this question of worship?
#1 They could really pray about it and listen with their heart to learn how God would lead them. Or #2 Back up 5 yards and punt! lol  If you plan to referee a church decision, remember to wear shoulder pads and a helmet. The life you save could be your own. This ole Texas boy is just full of good news, ey? ha! Have a great week my friend!

It seems that this is a common problem. The churches that I have attended have made changes to the worship hymnal and the same things always happen. We cant please everyone for sure. ~peace

You know what is really great? That people can be so passionate about a service. All is not lost with the world if that can happen. So, if the blood flows, just mop it up. Thanks for your lovely comment. The black nails do it every time, blieve me, they are my secret weapon.
