Ex Turpi: Thanks, but I have a long way to go....
and yes, the world does need many more who care. It's time to quit looking to someone else to fix the world's problems, and time to roll up our sleeves and start doing it ourselves, one person at a time, one problem at a time, right where we live.

It is so thoughtful to be thinking of others. I have heard a few great stories by folks like you thinking of others and it is so wonderful! Raising money through the raffle of the monitor is so wonderful! What a boon for the grandparents! sam

Re: Re: Great generous impulse... I don't suppose it would fly with everyone
ahh...I hate that !##&*&$%# tab key! As far as the family, the gifts have all been bought and distributed this year, so really, except for donating to my workplace family, we have to wait until next Christmas...with the recession, rising unemployment, and an unstable economy, I'm sure that next year there will be plenty of local families in need next Christmas.
We've already started to discuss with our friends that buy us gifts our plan for next Christmas season, and they're all on board so far...so I'd say its more like an inspiration than an impulse.

Re: Great generous impulse... I don't suppose it would fly with everyone
Pat, it's not an impulse. Every year we select a local family that is in need and take up a collection specifically for them throughout the month of December.
My company also has several larger-scale charities to which we donate substantially all year long.

Great generous impulse... I don't suppose it would fly with everyone
if you sent them a thank you and forwarded the gifts to a worthy charity...
