Hmmm....
....would the absence of the moon's effect on the tides of Earth's waters cause a problem for the life that remained, even if Earth were miraculously spared?
And doesn't the moon have a counter-balancing effect on Earths gravity that could effect the spin on it's axis?
I know....shut-up, Chuck! LOL

Naut, I wonder what effect the Loma Prieta Earthquake, that took place in Santa Cruz in 1989, had on this proposal of his.  He must have been there at that time?  It was quite an experience for my Sis who was working at the University there and was injured when she was thrown off of a staircase by one of the tremors while running out of a building.  A 650 yard crack opened in the ground in Santa Fe among other damage.

Fascinating info here Naut. And thankfully it's a long...long..long.long way away.

By the light, of the silvery... the silvery what? Then there's Moon River. What kind of river would it be?  Think of all the songs we'd have to change! We're going to need a sub-committee..

Naut
Thank goodness a decision doesn't have to be reached within my lifetime....nor my daughter's.  (She says selfishly.....)

That's the perfect solution, Naut: a focus group. A committee.
They should meet every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and discuss the possibilites.

I think by then, Naut, we'll have found other universes to inhabit.  In 500,000 years, I'm going to book a seat on the Starship Enterprise!  Mal

hmmm  I think that a billion years or two  would be enough time to come up with a solution... I think most probably I won't be here anyway,  so to answer your question... nope, I do not worry about it :-)
