Christmas was always a formal occasion, but at the same time, not really a big deal. The important thing is getting together, which we often do anyway. Now we have an excuse to be more casual.

Ooh, that Mexican food sounds good. I'm making a bit pot of chili
for Christmas this year. Things are up in the air with everyone, the kids' dad is in the hospital, the weather's crazy and nobody has taken the initiative to organize a get-together. So I said I'm having a drop-in open house potluck, everybody's welcome, no schedule. There are all those kids with competing grandparents who want to see them, folks from different sides of a recently divorced family who want to avoid one another... So I figured a big pot of chili, some other comfort foods kept warm in a crockpot, put some music on, and see what happens.

too funny - so you are a comic book movie geek - did you see Captain Blasto? that is my son's movie. his website is captainblasto.com. he is editing his new one Mercury Men which the little shit didn't give me a part in. check it out - he's the tall skinny kid. can't miss him. he's captain blasto.
