I wonder if he could believe he has ever suffered enough?
Have you suggested that he has finally paid his dues, that today is the day he gets to begin to not suffer?

At least he ate well, didn't he?...
so many times my mother (who had Alzheimer's) didn't eat what I fixed for her. I was back at the old farmhouse with her, her house, and growing a nice little garden, so we ate fresh veggie all summer and into the fall, and more if I had enough to freeze/can, as she had all her life. It's been 12 years now since she died, doesn't seem so long, seems like just yesterday. I wish you all the best in everything, take care, Bren

At least the food was great. Pity about the jaccuzi, though, since it's not just Richard who suffers, is it?

Sounds like Richard had a pretty good day. Strange how he thinks he must “suffer”…. You would think he would look forward to that Jacuzzi knowing it will provide him with some relief. Ummm….
