Straightforward, it felt less good as the weather forecasts rolled in
full of wind and snow. I have decided to be smart instead of clever, and organized Charlie a plane ticket home.

Have a safe trip Ciel
I envy you your adventure! I do love the wide vastness of America and all the possible roadtrips! Plus you get to see your son perform!

TAPS and Troosha,
I do expect some wintery blasts, and will be giving myself some extra time to make the trip. The truck will be stocked up with food and water and warm blankets in case of getting seriously stalled or stuck for any reason. There has not yet been significant snow in the Cascades. The Rockies--I will be taking interstates probably, which will be the most-traveled, most of the way.

You will see a lot of beauty. I hope you don't see any problems from extreme weather. Be safe but have lots of fun.

Naut, I am just hoping I won't have to deal with chains...
at least, not until I've got Charlie in the truck!

Great decision! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, and I know we'll get to see great pictures! And of course, drive carefully...
