Hunting
It sounds like it would be a life-changing experience. I've never gone hunting, but my brother is an avid hunter, and I wouldn't mind going. Great story, I hope you ate the meat from the deer, it would be a shame to take the animal's life and let it go to waste. As long as the hunting is purposeful, I think it is an experience worth having.
